 | For me it all started in the mid 1980s with the occasional rehearsal at our home when I was asked to read in for absent performers. Encouraged to join, I insisted that I would never be able to remember lines. But I did reluctantly agree to be the back end of the cow in the next panto! The following year I had a part with about three lines - which was fine - but the year after that I took on the substantial role of pantomime dame – and managed to get through it. It's funny how you can get swept along by it all !!
I went on to perform in about 40 shows over the following twenty or so years.
Never particularly comfortable on stage I am now happy to be running the bar. And I don't get any nerves at all running the bar !!!
